Shmooz Clothing  – Dunfermline

Very excited to present this project.  We were invited by ‘Retail Display Systems’, a design and manufacturing company based in East Kilbride, to propose a design for their Client Shmooz Dunfermline.  Shmooz had a shop in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Dunfermline.  This project seen them relocating to a new larger unit in the centre.  NJR were responsible for the concept design and specification, right through to the set out and manufacture drawings. RDS manufactured and installed the fixtures and works completed in November 2017.

Willows Coffee Shop & Restaurant – Perth

This is Willows coffee shop & restaurant in Perth, the last design I was working on whilst at Pride.  Willows is a family run business which has been operating in Perth for 25 years.  The Client approached Pride looking for a complete redesign and refurbishment of both the front and back of house.  The Client wanted classic design with a subtle Scottish feel.  I used tartan and plaid fabrics, and thistle wall paper by Timorous Beasties.  The farrow and ball wall colours offer an elegant feel.  and the bric a brac and pictures add to the highland ambiance.   Everything was stripped out, including flooring & servery.   I designed the entrance screens and banquette seating and specified all furniture, fixtures and finishes.   Its really worth popping in for a visit, the coffee and food are excellent.  The wonderful images are by the owner Michael White, please see his site http://www.michaelwphotography.co.uk

Wedgewood Restaurant – Edinburgh

This was a design I completed whilst working with Pride Shopfitting.  Paul & Lisa Wedgewood invited Pride to submit a proposal for the re-design of the restaurant.  After an initial meeting I produced a mood board, which Paul and Lisa  fell in love with, and Pride won the contract.   From there I went on to redesign the restaurant layout, working closely with the Clients, as the restaurant is very small and we had to be very clever with storage and positions to ensure no covers were lost.   I then produced 3d visuals to show how the restaurant would look once complete.  The Clients retained their existing tables and chairs, but all other fixtures and fittings were stripped out and replaced.  I specified all the fixtures & finishes for Lisa and Paul’s approval.  As well as designing the bar and the storage units, I also designed and produced the manufacturing drawings for bespoke lightboxes, boxes to hide air condition units and a feature screen in the basement.

Heineken HQ – London

Another project I designed whilst in my previous post.  Pride were invited to submit  a proposal for a new staff servery counter, replacing vending machines and staff kitchen. I was responsible for the initial concept design, specifying the overall look and feel, and fixtures and finishes.  This included lighting, flooring, paint spec, furniture and designing  a bespoke ceiling raft and table.

Sushi Stop – Edinburgh

In my previous position I designed this Sushi Restaurant/Take Away located at the food court of Princes Mall shopping centre Edinburgh.   This was the Clients first venture in the UK.   The Client designed their own graphics, with a little direction from ourselves.  We incorporated these into the design by applying them to both the wall and floor. I designed bespoke tables with a tactile timber cladding and corian top which matched the counter design. The counter itself was designed to showcase the product. This resulted in a soft and gentle look with a subtle oriental touch.

Cobbs Café – Aviemore

Another design I was involved in whilst with Pride Shopfitting.  Pride were invited by Cobbs to redesign and refurbish their Aviemore Café after it was damaged with flooding.  The Client was keen to create a warm cosy and tactile environment.  This was all achieved using timber cladding, sourced from local timber supplier, Rowan timber.  We installed  bespoke art work with a snow sports feel. The fabrics have a have a subtle Scottish feel, and the seating offers a bright retro look.   Again I was responsible for the original concept design, the sourcing and specifying of all materials, fixtures and finishes.

Sterling Furniture –  London Rd, Glasgow

Whilst working with Pride Shopfitting,  I previously created a design centre and redesigned the linen department in Sterling’s Aberdeen store, the company then approached Pride to design a home store within their furniture unit on London Road. They were looking for a fresh, modern and flexible feel.  We designed all the fixtures around their product using finishes that enhanced their goods.  I was responsible for the space planning and store layout, designing and producing manufacturing drawings and visuals for all the wall and floor fixtures.  This look and feel was then rolled out to their Martin and Frost store in Edinburgh.
